Revenue Europe: Top 10 Things To Do In Berlin

Berlin – the host city of the upcoming Revenue Europe Conference – is famous for its rich history and vibrant cultural scene. If you’re attending the event, why not extend your stay and check out the best that Germany’s capital has to offer? From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, here’s our list of the top 10 things to do while you’re there…

1. Burn off some calories at Tempelhofer Feld

Formerly an airport, Tempelhofer Feld has been transformed into one of Berlin’s largest and most unique public parks. Here, you can cycle, rollerblade, kitesurf or simply enjoy a leisurely jog or walk along the old runways and expansive grasslands. This incredible space, once the launch point for Stuka dive-bombers during World War II, also boasts spacious BBQ and picnic areas.

2. Get a culture fix at Museum Island

Nestled in the heart of Berlin, Museum Island is home to five world-renowned museums, including the Pergamon Museum and the Alte Nationalgalerie. With its rich collection of art and artifacts, it’s a paradise for history and art enthusiasts. Consider getting a museum pass to make the most of your visit.

3. Take a dip in a floating barge at Badeschiff

Partial to a spot of open-air swimming? The Badeschiff pool in Treptow is a floating barge pool situated on the Spree River. For €7, you can take a dip while enjoying views of popular tourist attractions such as the Oberbaum Bridge and the Molecule Man water statue. Bear in mind that photos aren’t permitted, so you’ll simply have to enjoy the moment!

4. Spend a day at Mauerpark

If you’re planning to extend your stay, consider taking a trip to Berlin’s famous Mauerpark. On Sundays, the park transforms into a vibrant flea market and cultural hub. Hunt for unique antiques, vintage clothing, or handmade crafts. And don’t miss the entertaining Mauerpark Sunday karaoke sessions, which start at 3 pm.

5. Take a walk along the East Side Gallery

Stretching along a remaining segment of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery is an open-air gallery featuring over 100 murals by artists from around the world. It’s a colorful and thought-provoking tribute to freedom and artistic expression.

6. Sample the culinary delights at Markthalle IX

Rescued by locals in 2009, Markthalle IX is a vibrant covered market selling an array of fresh, locally sourced foods. While you’re there, grab a craft beer from the Heidenpeters microbrewery and don’t forget to try the delicious pastries from Milan’s famous Sironi bakery. If you can, plan your visit around one of their themed events like Street Food Thursday. It gets busy, but the lively atmosphere and incredible food are worth braving the crowds!

7. Take in the city from the Reichstag’s glass dome

Home to the German Parliament, the Reichstag offers a fascinating glimpse into the country’s political heart. Be sure to book a free tour in advance to learn about its rich history and impressive architecture. The highlight is the glass dome, where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city.

8. Explore Berlin’s underground secrets

For those intrigued by Berlin’s underground history, Berliner Unterwelten (also known as Berlin Underworld) offers fascinating tours of the city’s subterranean sites. Explore bunkers, old train stations, and other hidden spaces that reveal a different side of Berlin’s past. Their tours can sell out quickly, so be sure to pre-book tickets up to 30 days in advance to avoid disappointment.

9. Visit the iconic Brandenburg Gate

We couldn’t leave the Brandenburg Gate off the list, could we?! This must-see neoclassical monument has stood as a symbol of unity and peace since its construction in the 18th century. Take a leisurely stroll around Pariser Platz, soak in the impressive architecture, and maybe even catch a street performer or two. It’s especially magical in the evening when the gate is beautifully illuminated.

10. Slow things down in Tiergarten

Looking for a place to unwind after a busy day of sightseeing? Head over to Tiergarten, a 500-acre lush green oasis located a short distance from Brandenburg Gate. Home to hidden ponds, statues and a historic memorial, it’s the ideal place to relax and soak up Berlin’s natural beauty.

So there you have it! Whether you’re a history buff, food connoisseur, art lover, or simply enjoy exploring a new city, we’re confident you’ll find plenty to keep you occupied outside of the conference.

We look forward to seeing you in Berlin on October 1.

Safe travels! (Or should that be Guten Reise?!)
